Ahamed – Singapore’s Best “Maid Runner” (And Why He Refuses the Title)

ahamed-singapores-best-maid-runner

You need to send your domestic helper on a one-way ticket home. And fast.

Maybe she borrowed from loansharks and they’re calling your house now.

Maybe you found things missing and you’re not sure what to do next.

Maybe the relationship has just completely broken down and you need her gone, safely and legally, without drama, without a police report, and without your family in the middle of it.

But you’ve read about the horror stories. Runaway maids. False accusations made the moment they find out they’re being sent home. And you’re not sure you can handle that alone.

So who do you call?

If you’ve ever asked that question in a Singapore employer Facebook group, you’ve probably already seen the answer.

Ahamed.

No last name needed. He is Singapore’s #1 most mentioned “runner” among local employers, with endless testimonials like these (taken from his website). Every time someone asks for a recommendation, his name is in the comments.

“My helper suddenly turned violent and started throwing things around after I confronted her about borrowing from loansharks. Her passport was with the loansharks. Ahamed and team helped to retrieve the passport from the loansharks, discovered through her belongings things she had stolen from the household. Ahamed’s team of 4 was able to control her and repatriate her, with my family’s safety as top priority. High recommend!!!!!”

— Calvin, Employer

“I salute his professionalism and his colleagues’ professionalism. I got my ex-helper who had a very aggressive attitude towards me. Her attitude was too strong and I can’t stand strong to her… so she decided to break contract twice, me and my hub don’t even dare to break the news to send her back. I chose Ahamed’s service, they break the news, the whole repatriation process is super smooth, I don’t have any trouble at my home from my ex-helper.”

— Jessy Lcy, Employer

“Ahamed is the best person to be able to help you with repatriating your helper. He will also safe-guard your interests by having your helper sign necessary documentation to indemnify you against any future problems. He and team are not runners. They are in control of even the nastiest and difficult of helpers. His services goes beyond what is charged. Rest assured he and team will not only turn up, but do an excellent job. You will be amazed.”

— Cheong, Employer

Because Ahamed is so busy... and not active on social media... I thought I’d find out more about what he does, and share it with you here.

So we met up at a McDonald’s in NEX for 2 hours, to uncover what his job actually involves... and why he does it so damn well.

I Was Expecting a Bouncer. I Got Something Better.

When I first met Ahamed, I was caught off guard.

I walked in expecting some muscle-built guy. A bouncer type. Someone who looked like he could physically carry a difficult helper to the plane if things went sideways.

What I got was a sharp, serious man who clearly knows exactly what he’s doing.

Calm. Methodical. Not a single unnecessary word.

No theatrics. No intimidation. Just expertise.

Turns out, that’s the whole point.

He’s Not a “Runner.” And Once You Understand Why, You’ll Never Hire One Again.

A traditional runner does one thing.

You call them, they show up at the carpark, your helper gets in with a couple of other maids, and they head to the airport.

That’s it. Grab service with a more specific destination.

Ahamed does something completely different. His company, Internal Investigations & Intelligence, provides full repatriation services handled by a trained team, fully within MOM and ICA regulations, with documentation at every step.

He calls it security-anchored repatriation. And once you see what that actually involves, the word “runner” just doesn’t fit anymore.

And because everything is settled at the house first, by the time they reach Changi it’s almost anticlimactic. No drama at the airport. No runaway. They always board the plane.

20 Years in Security Doesn’t Just Go Away

Ahamed has been doing repatriation for 2.5 years.

But before this, he spent 20 years in the security industry.

He got into this because he saw a gap. Nobody was doing repatriation with a proper legal and security framework behind it. So he built one from scratch, drawing on two decades of knowing exactly how things can go wrong.

That background shapes everything. His entire operation is designed the way a security professional would design it: evidence first, procedures documented, every scenario anticipated.

When you engage him, you’re getting a team of 12 people with backgrounds across security, ex-prison service, and the police force.

3 to 4 of them show up at your home. Depending on the case, there might be a Chinese-speaking staff member, an in-house psychologist, and there’s always someone at the office monitoring a live camera feed from inside the car.

He evaluates every case before deciding who to send and how many. Low risk, high risk, flight risk. Each one gets a different team composition.

For night-time jobs, the setup shifts. He sends a male driver paired with a female staff member. Every scenario is planned for.

Everything Is Evidence. And That Protects Everyone.

This is the part most people don’t think about until it’s too late.

Without documentation, anyone can say anything after the fact.

“He handled me roughly.”

“They didn’t pay my full salary.”

Ahamed’s team runs procedures that make those claims nearly impossible to fabricate. The cars have cameras. Salary payment is captured on video, with the helper visibly receiving and acknowledging it. His team also takes very detailed photograph evidence throughout the process. There’s disclaimer documentation in dual translation so nothing is left ambiguous for either party.

Ahamed told me that in 6 out of 10 cases, his team discovers something new during the process. Something the employer didn’t think to mention. His team handles it on the spot.

He’s Not Just on Your Side. He’s on the Right Side.

Ahamed doesn’t represent MOM. He doesn’t represent the employer either.

His job is to facilitate a clean, legal, drama-free process for everyone involved, including the helper.

If there’s a salary dispute, it gets sorted at the house before anyone goes anywhere.

If an employer asks for something that crosses a line, he’ll say no.

He’s there to do it right. Not just to do whatever he’s told.

He Takes Pride in Helping Everyone in the Room

Something I didn’t expect from this conversation: Ahamed genuinely cares about all the parties involved. Not just the employer.

He sees his work as helping four groups at once.

The employer, who gets a smooth, stress-free repatriation and can finally move on with life.

The helper, who leaves Singapore safely and with her legal obligations properly settled. No loose ends that could follow her home.

The police, who don’t have to deal with another unnecessary case that could have been handled properly from the start.

And society. When a helper goes missing instead of being properly repatriated, the outcomes can get ugly. Illegal stay. Vulnerability to exploitation. Potential social issues. Ahamed’s work quietly prevents a lot of that.

That’s a much bigger picture than most people imagine when they think “maid runner.”

And Yes, He Does Standard Runner Services Too

Despite everything above, Ahamed’s company also covers the full range of day-to-day runner services.

Airport pick-ups, medical check-ups, MOM biometrics, FDW onboarding, settling-in programme, passport renewals.

And it’s not just FDWs. He handles male foreign workers too.

The difference is just how it’s done. Every job, whether routine or high-stakes, comes with the same level of care.

The Cases You Don’t Forget

I asked Ahamed about his most memorable cases.

He talked about finding jewellery hidden inside a toilet during the escort process. Found before departure, addressed on the spot.

He told me about a helper who had been telling her boyfriend that the employer’s children were hers. That came out during the repatriation.

Then he showed me a scar.

He got it on the job. Said it matter-of-factly. No drama about it.

“We don’t know what’s in their mind,” he said.

And that’s exactly why every procedure exists. Not to be rigid. But because when you can’t predict what’s coming, your systems have to be airtight.

More Affordable Than You Think

Most people assume Ahamed charges a steep premium for all this.

He doesn’t.

His base rate is comparable to what a regular runner charges. There can be add-ons for specific requirements like the in-house psychologist, but the base price will surprise you.

Pricing is based on a 3-hour window before the flight.

Call him. Then call a runner. Compare.

No Ads. No Social Media. Just Results.

Ahamed has zero social media presence. No ads. No campaigns. Nothing.

Every client comes through word of mouth.

He deliberately limits his caseload so quality stays consistent. And he’s not always available. If the timing doesn’t work, he’d rather say no than rush a job. So if you need him, contact him early.

“Every repatriation I do is treated like my first repatriation,” he told me.

“Cannot make errors. Misses flight… my employer is going to have a lot of headache.”

He’s such a perfectionist... good for us, forever busy for him.

His family knows this is a 24/7 job. They knew going in. And he’s made a point of building real work-life balance for his team on purpose. They operate on a partnership basis, not a typical employment one. That matters to him.

Before the interview ended, he wanted to make one thing clear: the credit doesn’t just go to him. It goes to the whole team. He sees every one of them as a partner, not an employee. That distinction clearly matters to him.

His last piece of advice to employers who want to engage him: don’t hide anything about your helper’s situation. The more he knows upfront, the better he can prepare, and the smoother the whole operation goes.

And if you're still on the fence, Ahamed has one of the highest success rates in the industry when it comes to helpers actually boarding the plane after clearing the departure gate. It's a record he takes seriously.
