What Happens if My Maid Gets Pregnant in Singapore?

Can I Stop My Helper From Dating on Her Rest Day?
MOM's guidance is that your helper should be given the freedom to decide how she spends her rest day.
- 1 rest day a week, on a day you both agree
- At least 1 rest day a month cannot be compensated away with pay
- It can be one full day or two half days, and she may choose to rest at home
- She cannot work for anyone else on her rest day, including her boyfriend or his family

What House Rules Can I Set About Her Boyfriend?
Your home, your house rules. Agree them early, and keep them about the home and the job.
- Keep your family's privacy: no photos of the home or kids shared with outsiders
- Explain the marriage and pregnancy rules so she hears them from you, kindly, and early
- Put the agreed rules in writing so nobody remembers them differently later
Why Do Helpers Look for a Relationship?
Put yourself in her shoes for a minute.
- She left her home, family and friends to work in another country
- She lives in your house, so she rarely gets fully off duty
- A partner can be comfort and a shoulder to lean on during tough times
She is an adult who makes her own choices.
What you can do is build trust, so she comes to you early if something goes wrong.
P.S. Friends, if you catch yourself checking her phone for "evidence"... put it down. A clear chat over kopi works better, and nobody has to pretend they didn't see anything.
