From 1 October 2025, your Myanmar maid does not need a visa if she’s going to Malaysia...
for a short social visit of up to 14 days by air.
Before that date, a visa is still required.

Who can use the visa exemption?
All Myanmar citizens with a valid passport.
It’s good for short trips like holidays, visiting family, or short business meetings as long as it’s under 14 days.
But it only applies if she’s flying in by air.
If you’re planning to cross by land, like taking the bus into JB, this exemption won’t apply.
Who still needs to apply for a visa?
Anyone staying more than 14 days.
People who need multiple entries because they travel often.
Long-term passes like Medical Pass, MM2H, PVIP, Spouse passes.
Also Student, Work, or Employment Passes.
What to bring along
Return ticket, itinerary, hotel booking or proof of accommodation, invitation letter if applicable, and her work permit.
Singapore immigration officers do check this.
Can the 14 days be extended or converted?
No. It’s strictly 14 days only.
You cannot extend it and you cannot convert it into another pass.
Is entry guaranteed?
No. Even with the visa exemption, immigration officers at the airport have the final say.
If they’re not satisfied, they can refuse entry.
So here’s the situation: before 1 Oct 2025, Myanmar helpers still need a visa if you want to bring them to Malaysia.
From 1 Oct 2025 onwards, they can enter Malaysia visa-free for up to 14 days as long as it’s by air.
Personally, I’d still keep all the documents in a folder just to avoid any issues at the checkpoint.
Immigration on both sides can be strict, and you don’t want any surprises when you’re trying to start your holiday.
I know some employers like to bring their maids for a quick weekend trip to JB or a short holiday in KL or Penang.
