Is It Compulsory to Give My Maid WiFi in Singapore?

We could not find any MOM rule that requires employers to share home WiFi.
What MOM does speak about clearly is her phone:

MOM: "A mobile phone is the personal property of your migrant domestic worker (MDW) and she should have access to it." It is her connection to her loved ones back home.

MOM's employer guide asks you to make avenues available for her to seek help, such as access to the house phone or mobile phone, so she can call for help in an emergency.

How Much Does Mobile Data Cost a Helper in Singapore?

Why Do Many Employers Share WiFi With Their Helper?

She stays connected to family. MOM's 2021 study found 99.6% of helpers could keep in touch with friends and family back home.
Small cost, big morale boost. Your home plan is already paid for.
Safety. A working phone means she can reach you, or call for help, when something goes wrong at home.
Goodwill. She feels welcome from day one, which helps build a steady, long-lasting working relationship.

What WiFi Rules Can I Set for My Maid?

Nobody wants a helper on the phone till 3am... and oversleeping the next day.
Talk it through kindly on day one, and agree together:

Quiet hours

Agree a time when calls end, so she gets her sleep. She keeps her phone; you agree on when to put it down.

Phone-free tasks

Name the jobs where full attention matters, such as minding the baby, caring for an elderly parent, or cooking.

Free time is hers

Breaks and rest days are her own time to call home, scroll, and rest. Keep the rules about work time only.
