From past fifteen years, the Foreign Domestic Worker (FDW) Award is being given to the maids and it has several benefits. The awards are initiated by AEA (S)-The Association of Employment Agencies Singapore, in order to create a social support for all maids and this is the reason that these awards are also commonly known as the Maid Awards.

FDW Awards 2017 and the Prizes

In 2017, the FDW Awards were held on October 15, 2017, at Polytechnic Convention Center, Singapore. The FDW 2017 Awards included 1^st Prize, 2^nd Prize, 3^rd Prize and 5 Merit Awards. The beholder of the 1^st prize was rewarded with $2000, the 2^nd prize winner was rewarded with $2500 and the 3^rd prize winner was rewarded with $1000. Each merit award beholders were given $500.

How Can You Nominate Your Maid?

Every year there are numerous employers who enroll the names of their maids to the FDW awards, hoping to see their maid as a beholder of the first prize. So, if you are willing to nominate your maid for the upcoming awards, then you have to go through a simple process, which includes the following steps

• Visit aeas.org.sg and download the entry form for free.
• Fill in the form that showcases the heading “Foreign Domestic Worker (FDW) of the Year Award”.
• The form has two sections. In the first section, the employer has to mention his or her required details, such as Name, NRIC/Passport No., Contact Number, Complete Address and Postal Code.
• In the second section of the form, the employer has to mention the required details of the FDW or simply the maid, such as Name of the FDW, Work Permit Number, Years of Employment with the Employer and Nationality of the FDW.

Documents Required

Do not forget to submit the following documents with the entry form

• Photocopy of the FDW’s work permit card
• Recent Photographs of the FDW

Terms and Conditions

Following are the terms and conditions, which are necessary to be accepted and followed by the employers and their maids.

• A Reference Letter shall be submitted by the Employer, which does not exceed more than 1500 words.
• The reference letter must be written in any one of the languages, English, Malay, Standard Mandarin or Tamil.
• The letter must possess outstanding performances, capabilities and qualities of the FDW or maid.
• The decision is totally dependent upon the judges and there are no appeals to be entertained.
• Candidates, who will be shortlisted, will only be notified.
• If any contestant fails to adhere the rules will be disqualified without any kind of notice.
• The organizers are allowed to change the rules anytime without any notification.
• The nominees must be willing to interact with the media if required.
