You might face different challenges with your foreign domestic worker (FDW) or employment agency during employment and you can get help.
Dispute or misunderstanding with your FDW
Dispute with your FDW can occur due to misunderstanding as well as differing expectations.
Ensure you try and resolve this first with your FDW whenever it occurs. Though there is a suspicion that she may have done something wrong, don’t take laws into your hands by punishing her. If there is a criminal matter, report it to the authorities.
You can as well give feedback on your FDW for other prospective employers to see.
Disputes or misunderstanding with your employment agency
Your employment agency is expected to disclose its dispute resolution mechanism to you. If you have a contractual misunderstanding or are not happy with the service of the employment agency, these disputes should be settled based on the agreed dispute resolution mechanism.
Consider using the service of the small claims tribunal if it’s a misunderstanding over the service agreement which cannot be settled via mediation.
You can as well contact the Association of Employment Agencies (Singapore) (AEAS) at 68362618 for dispute settlement.
